Originally built in 1902 the Cass Scenic Railroad is an authentic preservation of a steam-powered mountain-logging railroad. The beautiful and high mountains of eastern West Virginia provide plenty of challenge for the railroad's collection of Heisler, Shay and Climax locomotives. Switchbacks and grades of 11 percent provide passengers with thrilling panoramas of mountain scenery. The charming town of Cass compliments the railroad and together take visitors back to a true turn-of-the-century experience.
